Wow. 100,000 readers.
As someone who was once a reader of international Science Grid This Week (iSGTW), the predecessor to Science Node, it’s just amazing to me that we have gone from just over 20,000 when Science Node was launched to well over 100,000 readers today.
And what has fueled this growth?
- First and most importantly, truly wonderful scientific and scholarly achievements by researchers in the US and worldwide. All enabled by advanced cyberinfrastructure facilities that speed the work of scientists and make possible research that would otherwise have been out of reach.
- Nearly as important, there’s the excellent writing by the Science Node team – a group of people who really “get it” when it comes to discovery and cyberinfrastructure.
- Last – and still tremendously important – are the contributions from universities, colleges, not-for-profits, and individuals who enable us to produce Science Node. Thanks to all our supporters, past and present. Money is only a means to an end, but we don’t get the end without the means.
I am so pleased to be involved in and support Science Node. I’m proud of the work our staff does. And while we didn’t do it on purpose, I’m particularly proud of the fact that the majority of the staff are women. I have two granddaughters and even today, in 2019, I wish they had more role models working in science and technology to look up to.
Science Node generates content independent of my influence; we have an outside board that offers advice and guidance. And I am honored to play a small part in facilitating the work of Science Node. Thank you all, and thanks and congratulations to Alisa, Alicia, Kevin, and Laura!
